Basketball Recap: Shane Lamer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jersey over Marquette Catholic

Jersey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 50-32 to the Marquette Catholic Explorers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 63-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.

Jersey's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shane Lamer, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Koenig, who put up six points.

Jersey's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Marquette Catholic, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Jersey will challenge Freeburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marquette Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-42 loss against Roxana on the 2nd.
