Basketball Game Preview: Wakpala Sioux vs. Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks

Wakpala and Tiospaye Topa are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Wakpala Sioux will be playing at home against the Tiospaye Topa Thunderhawks at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Wakpala will be strutting in after a win while Tiospaye Topa will be coming in after a defeat.

Wakpala is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Saturday. They blew past Oelrichs 75-17. The victory was some much needed relief for the Sioux as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 66 points the game before, Tiospaye Topa was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They came up short against Faith, falling 49-26.

Despite the loss, Tiospaye Topa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Isaiah Lee posted 11 points.

Wakpala didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Tiospaye Topa when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win. Will Wakpala repeat their success, or does Tiospaye Topa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
