Basketball Game Preview: Marco Island Academy Rays vs. Everglades City Gators

The Marco Island Academy Rays will head out on the road to face off against the Everglades City Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marco Island Academy will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Thursday, Marco Island Academy lost to Everglades City on the road by a 46-28 margin.

Marco Island Academy better keep an eye on Gena Collins. She was instrumental in Everglades City's win, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds. With that strong performance, Collins is now averaging an impressive 9.5 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayde Freeman, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds.

Everglades City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive games.

Everglades City's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Marco Island Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
