Volleyball Recap: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Laguna Creek Cardinals

Elk Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Laguna Creek Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

Elk Grove took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 26-28, 19-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Leading Laguna Creek to victory were Alvin Vang and Eli Haworth. Vang had ten digs and three aces, while Haworth had three digs. That's the most aces Vang has posted over his last seven matchups.

Elk Grove now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Laguna Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-4.

Elk Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Manteca on the 11th. As for Laguna Creek, they will challenge Cosumnes Oaks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
