Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Galatia/Thompsonville

While Galatia/Thompsonville's victory against Pope County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bearcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Pirates on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.

Lanie Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Laney Adams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Galatia/Thompsonville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pope County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Galatia/Thompsonville will challenge Shawnee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pope County, they will head out on the road to face off against Crab Orchard at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
