Football Game Preview: James Island Trojans vs. Summerville Green Wave

James Island hasn't had much luck against Summerville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will take on the Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as James Island comes in on six and Summerville on four.

James Island will bounce into Friday's contest after beating West Ashley, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Trojans blew past the Wildcats, posting a 49-7 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Connor Dantzler had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 63 yards and one score on only five carries. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Sam Crumpton was in the mix as well, providing James Island with two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: James Island was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Summerville). They really took it to Stall for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-6 victory. The Green Wave pushed the score to 50-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors had no chance of recovering from.

James Island's record now sits at 6-0. As for Summerville, their record is now 5-1.

James Island suffered a grim 26-0 defeat to Summerville when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Green Wave's Jayven Williams, who rushed for 278 yards and four scores while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Now that the Trojans know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
