Volleyball Recap: Sydney Geselbracht Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Bishop Watterson

Mount Notre Dame barely beat Bishop Watterson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Mount Notre Dame blew past Bishop Watterson 3-0 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for Mount Notre Dame in their matchups with Bishop Watterson: they've now won seven in a row.

The win didn't come easy: Bishop Watterson scored at least 21 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-23.

Mount Notre Dame's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Geselbracht, who had 11 kills and two aces. That's the most kills Geselbracht has posted since back in August of 2024.

Bishop Watterson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ashley Moreland, who had 16 digs and two assists. She has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maeve Boyle, who had five digs and three aces.

Mount Notre Dame's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Bishop Watterson, the loss snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 9-9 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mount Notre Dame will head out to challenge Archbishop McNicholas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Watterson, they will venture away from home to take on Bishop Hartley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
