Basketball Recap: Montgomery Central Takes a Loss

Montgomery Central fought the good fight in their overtime contest against North Stanly on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 48-40 to the Comets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Timberwolves of the 45-41 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Lexie Brown produced another solid performance putting up 21 points for North Stanly. Brown's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Shy'Mani Baskins was another key player, earning 11 points.

Montgomery Central now has a losing record of 2-3. As for North Stanly, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montgomery Central will square off against Union Pines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Stanly, they will head out to face off against Bradford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
