Volleyball Recap: St. Francis Comes Up Short

St. Francis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Catholic Central Hilltoppers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mariners of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While St. Francis ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-17.

Jamison Howe paced St. Francis' offense, picking up four kills. Howe got some help from Sophia Busack and her five assists. Busack was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 5-21. As for Catholic Central, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-23.

St. Francis didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Luther Prep on the 17th. As for Catholic Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Messmer on the 17th.
