Basketball Recap: Bethune-Bowman Mohawks vs. Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders
If the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks were feeling good off their 60-5 takedown of the Royal Live Oaks Academy Royal Knights last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bethune-Bowman was beaten by the Red Raiders 54-24 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 60 points in the game before, Bethune-Bowman couldn't push the score so high this time.
Bethune-Bowman's loss came despite strong showings from Diana Zeigler and Zy'Tavia Mack. Zeigler scored three points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Mack scored nine points.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raven Brown led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 17 games she's played. Cailyn Youmans was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
Bethune-Bowman's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Bamberg-Ehrhardt, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Branchville the next time they take the court. Bamberg-Ehrhardt will host Branchville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Bethune-Bowman will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
