Basketball Recap: Catholic Central Picks Up 14th Straight Win at Home

Catholic Central came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game with ease, bagging a 79-31 win over Academy of the Holy Names. The Crusaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Academy of the Holy Names, too.

Catholic Central pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.9 points per game. As for Academy of the Holy Names, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Catholic Central and Academy of the Holy Names should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Catholic Central will take on Cohoes at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th up 391 places (18 vs. 409). Similarly, Academy of the Holy Names (ranked 65th) will meet Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (ranked 415th) at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th.
