Recap: North Charleston Cougars vs. Colleton County Cougars

This season hasn't been kind to the North Charleston Cougars, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They fell 46-39 to Colleton County on Wednesday. North Charleston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Colleton County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Colleton County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xiomara Oxner, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Oxner scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zariona Hudson, who scored 12 points.

North Charleston bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Colleton County, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.

North Charleston will square off against Baptist Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Baptist Hill is ranked 256th, while North Charleston is ranked 266th). Colleton County will be home for the holidays to greet Lowcountry Leadership at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lowcountry Leadership comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
