Baseball Game Preview: Riverside Rams vs. Lakeside Eagles

Riverside is 0-10 against Lakeside since May of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Rams will challenge the Eagles at 12:00 p.m. Riverside has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Riverside came up short against Freeman on Saturday, falling 22-5.

Riverside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Reedy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double was Reedy's first of the season. Nathan Lee was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Lakeside waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Scotties.

Nicholas Hernandez and Connor Fritz did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Fritz went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Kyle Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Lakeside, their record is now 8-3.

Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .512. However, it's not like Lakeside struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Riverside suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Lakeside in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
