Softball Recap: Wonewoc-Center Comes Up Short

Wonewoc-Center extended their losing streak to 14 on Monday, dropping them down to 1-16. They lost 17-0 to the Necedah Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 two weeks ago.

As for Necedah, they moved to 5-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Necedah's part, Gianna Teumer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Teumer has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lydia Rattunde was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Camryn Nielsen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wonewoc-Center will host North Crawford at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Necedah, they will be playing at home against Whitehall at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
