Baseball Recap: Wynford Comes Up Short

Wynford extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-10 in the process. They came up short against the Calvert Senecas, falling 10-0. Considering the last time the Royals couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Calvert, their win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Calvert's part, they saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Shoemaker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Shoemaker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Looking ahead, Wynford will square off against Plymouth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calvert, they will face off against Mohawk at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Senecas' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
