Basketball Recap: Lakewood Victorious

Lakewood proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by 24) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Cleveland Heights Tigers out 50-48. This was payback for the Rangers, who suffered a 60-55 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cleveland Heights lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Robbie Caldwell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jane Mueller, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Lakewood's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. As for Cleveland Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.

Lakewood will square off against Normandy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Normandy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Cleveland Heights has already played their next contest (against Medina), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
