Softball Game Preview: Kennedy Fighting Irish vs. Garden Grove Argonauts

The Kennedy Fighting Irish will face off against the Garden Grove Argonauts at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Garden Grove took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Kennedy, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Kennedy got the win against Ocean View by a conclusive 14-4. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now won four in a row.

Kennedy got a massive performance out of Natalie Headley, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Headley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Batalon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Kennedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.6.

Meanwhile, Garden Grove came up short against Segerstrom on Wednesday, falling 12-4. The Argonauts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Garden Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Sosa, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Garden Grove's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.

Kennedy took their victory against Garden Grove in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 17-1 score. Will the Fighting Irish repeat their success, or do the Argonauts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
