Baseball Recap: Owen Takes a Loss

After flying high against Avery County last Tuesday, Owen came back down to earth. Owen came up short against the McDowell Titans on Wednesday, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-5 back in February.

Owen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Burpeau, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Owen's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for McDowell, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Looking ahead, Owen will take on Avery County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Avery County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for McDowell, they will face off against Erwin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Erwin has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
