Basketball Recap: St. Elizabeth Falls Short Against Ranked Sanford

On Saturday, St. Elizabeth faced Sanford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Elizabeth Vikings took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sanford Warriors. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Sanford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zir Ellegood led the charge by putting up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Taylor, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

St. Elizabeth's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Sanford, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Coming up, St. Elizabeth will square off against Middletown at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sanford, they will challenge Tatnall at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
