Volleyball Recap: York Dukes vs. Lyons Lions

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact York can now relate to. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lyons Lions on Thursday. The Dukes haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

While York was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20.

Katherine (Katie) Day paced York's offense, picking up 13 kills. (Katie) Day got some help from Amalia Toliopoulos and her 13 assists.

Lyons was led to victory by Kate Heatherly and Avery Lee. Heatherly had seven digs and three aces, while Lee had five digs. What's more, Heatherly posted two assists, the most she's had over her last seven matches.

York's loss dropped their record down to 24-13. As for Lyons, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 24-12.

York does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lyons, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Oak Park-River Forest on the 4th.
