Softball Recap: Centralia's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Centralia hadn't done well against Pinckneyville recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Orphans skirted past the Panthers 2-1. For the Orphans, this counts as revenge for the 11-9 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The victory (which was Centralia's fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Pinckneyville, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 20-8.

Looking ahead, Centralia will square off against Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Orphans 1.6, the Wildcats 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Pinckneyville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
