Volleyball Recap: Lucas Comes Up Short

Lucas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crestline Bulldogs. The Cubs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Lucas came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 17-25, 16-25, 20-18.

When it comes to explaining why Lucas lost, don't look at Lila Melton. Despite the final result, she had 34 digs and two aces. Shiloh Walter also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Lucas' loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Crestline, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.

Lucas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Danville on the 20th. As for Crestline, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against St. Mary Central Catholic on the 22nd.
