Basketball Recap: Jay Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Jay hadn't done well against Pace recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Jay Royals enjoyed a cozy 60-44 win over the Pace Patriots. This was a revenge game for the Royals: when they faced off against the Patriots two weeks ago, they had to take a 53-50 defeat.

Jay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Presley Hawthorne led the charge by putting up 14 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. That's the most points Hawthorne has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aubreigh Nelson, who posted 16 points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Pace lost, don't look at Grace Manor. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 13 en route to 17 points and five assists. That was a full 38.6% of Pace's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Lay, who scored eight points and seven rebounds.

Jay is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for Pace, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Jay has already played their next match, a 41-38 loss against Milton on the 28th. As for Pace, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-35 defeat against Florida State University High School on the 28th.
