Recap: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Hi-Plains Patriots

The Kit Carson Wildcats struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (the Hi-Plains Patriots had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Kit Carson fell 47-40 to Hi-Plains. Kit Carson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kit Carson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josiah Irwin, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brennan Framel, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.

Hi-Plains' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Cordell led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Cordell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Hugo Vara was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Kit Carson has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Hi-Plains, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7.

Kit Carson will head out on the road to square off against Granada at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Granada is ranked 272nd, while Kit Carson is ranked 294th). As for Hi-Plains, Hi-Plains and Stratton will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Stratton is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
