Basketball Recap: Green Level Drops Highest Score of Season Against New Bern

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Green Level ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 72-66 W over the New Bern Bears. The Gators' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Green Level to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xander Butners, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 16 points. Those 16 points gave Butners a new career-high. Garrett Midkiff was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Green Level was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Green Level's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for New Bern, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, Green Level will welcome Panther Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gators will be up against the Catamounts' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.43 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for New Bern, they will head out to square off against West Craven at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
