Baseball Game Preview: Monache Marauders vs. Porterville Panthers

The Monache Marauders will head out to square off against the Porterville Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Monache came out on top against Minarets on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run fourth inning. The Marauders blew past the Mustangs 18-3. That looming 18-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Marauders yet this season.

Brody McCoy made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Tyson Chavez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Brandon Correa was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Monache always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minarets only posted an OBP of .368.

Porterville not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th (when they won 15-0). They put the hurt on Mt. Whitney with a sharp 10-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won six in a row.

The victory made it two in a row for Monache and bumps their season record up to 18-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Porterville, their record now sits at 8-19.

Monache was able to grind out a solid victory over Porterville in their previous meeting back in April, winning 12-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
