Soccer Game Preview: Layton Christian Academy vs. Stansbury

The Layton Christian Academy Eagles will head out to face off against the Stansbury Stallions at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Layton Christian Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Murray, who was ranked ninth at the time (Layton Christian Academy was ranked 15th). The Eagles fell 2-0 to the Spartans on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty eight goals in the game before, Layton Christian Academy's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Stansbury had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Miners a 2-0 shutout. Two seems to be a good number for Stansbury as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Stansbury pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Layton Christian Academy, they moved to 13-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Layton Christian Academy skirted past Stansbury 1-0 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
