Baseball Recap: Dexter Southfield Triumphs

Dexter Southfield is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Phillips Academy on Wednesday, but Phillips Academy came as close as anyone has to beating them. Dexter Southfield came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against Phillips Academy. That's more bragging rights for Dexter Southfield, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sachin Gopal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Gopal was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Matthew Blanusa looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Malaret, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

Dexter Southfield's record is now 4-0. As for Phillips Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Dexter Southfield will be playing at home against Cushing Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Phillips Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Belmont Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
