Baseball Game Preview: Borden County Coyotes vs. O'Donnell Eagles

For the second straight game, Borden County will face off against O'Donnell. The Coyotes are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Borden County has given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Borden County lost 18-4 to O'Donnell on Friday.

For O'Donnell's part, Jonathan Bolton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Bolton has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, O'Donnell let Tristen Arthur and Bransen Hancock run wild. Arthur scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Hancock scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave Arthur a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ezyah Torres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

O'Donnell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.

O'Donnell has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 15.2 runs. As for Borden County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6-1.
