Softball Recap: Willamette's Undefeated Season over After Six Games

Willamette fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against North Eugene on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 6-3 to the Highlanders. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jadynn Ireland spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Sophie Robins was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Willamette fell to 5-1. As for North Eugene, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Willamette will challenge Roseburg at 4:30 p.m. on April 1. As for North Eugene, they will square off against Summit at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
