Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ryan Benderman and Jakyri Mcclure Lead Mt. Pleasant to Victory

Mt. Pleasant lost to Giles County back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers put the hurt on the Giles County Bobcats with a sharp 67-46 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

Mt. Pleasant was led to victory by Jakyri McClure and Ryan Benderman. McClure dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards, while Benderman dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Benderman's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Micah Dale was another key player, putting up 12 points.

The victory was the third in a row for Mt. Pleasant, bringing their record for this year to 5-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Giles County, they moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Mt. Pleasant Tigers take on the Hughes Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Giles County will take on Fayetteville in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
