Volleyball Recap: Smithfield Packers vs. York Falcons

Smithfield hadn't done well against York recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Everything went the Smithfield Packers' way against the York Falcons as the Smithfield Packers made off with a 3-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Packers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Smithfield was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-21, 25-21.

Smithfield found their leader in freshman Baylee Carriker, who had eight aces and six digs. That's the most aces Carriker has posted since back in October.

Carriker wasn't the only good server: Smithfield was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as York only served four.

Smithfield's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-16. As for York, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Smithfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Jamestown on the 29th. York has also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Lake Taylor on the 4th.
