Softball Recap: Costa Mesa Takes a Loss

Costa Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 16-7 to the Katella Knights. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 15-14 to the Knights when the teams met back in March of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maya Whittaker was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Isabella Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Costa Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Katella, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Looking ahead, Costa Mesa will be playing at home against Westminster at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will give Costa Mesa their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Katella, they will venture away from home to square off against Corona at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
