Basketball Recap: Ameerah Conyers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Manning over St. James

Manning was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. James Sharks. If the Monarchs were looking for revenge after losing 48-37 to the Sharks when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Manning's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ameerah Conyers, who posted seven points in addition to 11 rebounds and three blocks. Tamia Watson was another key player, putting up nine points along with five boards and three steals.

Manning's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. James, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Manning will face off against Crestwood at 6:00 p.m. on the 3rd. As for St. James, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-24 win against Georgetown on the 2nd.
