Volleyball Game Preview: Gates Chili Spartans vs. Irondequoit Eagles

After both having extra time off, the Gates Chili Spartans and the Irondequoit Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Gates Chili is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Webster Schroeder, who was ranked tenth at the time (Gates Chili was ranked 12th). The Spartans fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Meanwhile, Irondequoit came up short against Penfield on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

Irondequoit's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Gates Chili, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Gates Chili beat Irondequoit 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
