Basketball Recap: Davie Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Davie can now relate to. They fell to the South Mecklenburg Sabres 64-58.

Despite the loss, Davie still got an impressive performance from Olivia Smith, who posted 11 points. Gracie Shore was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Davie was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their sixth loss (out of 25 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

South Mecklenburg was led to victory by Nykira Arrington and Chloe Grant. Arrington dropped a double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds, while Grant dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. The contest was Arrington's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Kendrick, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 8 points.

Davie's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points over those games. As for South Mecklenburg, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 25-4.

Davie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Mecklenburg, they have already played their next match, a 53-27 defeat against McDowell on the 4th.
