Baseball Recap: Northeast Dubois Starts Season with Win Against Perry Central

Northeast Dubois took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Perry Central Commodores. The Jeeps have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Commodores, too.

Eli Schroering made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schroering was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan Sheetz, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jake Kluesner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Northeast Dubois was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry Central only posted a batting average of .130.

Perry Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Northeast Dubois has already played their next contest, a 15-2 defeat against Heritage Hills on the 9th. As for Perry Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against North Harrison on the 9th.
