Preview: Pinole Valley Spartans vs. Bethel Jaguars
After two games on the road, Pinole Valley is heading back home. They will take on The Bethel Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Pinole Valley is ranked 724th, while Bethel is ranked 733rd).
Last Saturday, Pinole Valley was able to grind out a solid win over De Anza, taking the game 30-20. The win was just what Pinole Valley needed coming off of a 47-0 loss in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Maddox Wu, who rushed for 205 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Shawntay Chaple was another key contributor, rushing for 44 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bethel fell victim to Salesian College Preparatory's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Pride 34-0.
Pinole Valley's win lifted them to 3-5 while Bethel's loss dropped them down to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Pinole Valley against Bethel in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 35-0 victory. Will Pinole Valley repeat their success, or does Bethel have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
