Basketball Recap: St. Helens Falls to Estacada in First Game of Season

St. Helens had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Estacada Rangers. The Lions' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row dating back to last season.

St. Helens' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Cox, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Cox's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Naes, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

St. Helens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-59 victory against The Dalles on the 6th. As for Estacada, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-40 defeat against Pendleton on the 6th.
