Baseball Recap: King City Gets the Win

King City hadn't done well against South Harrison recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildkats had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildkats have posted since April 17th.

King City's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Sample, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Sample has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times he's played.

King City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for South Harrison, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, King City will face off against DeKalb at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Harrison, they have already played their next game, a 6-2 loss against Plattsburg on the 6th.
