Basketball Recap: Logan Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Marilyn Moreno and Presley Griffitt

Logan came up into this matchup off a tough 31-point loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Mescalero Apache Chiefs by a score of 44-41 on Friday. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2016.

Despite the loss, Logan had strong showings from Presley Griffitt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Marilyn Moreno, who posted nine points and six steals. Moreno is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aspen Casey, who put up five points and five rebounds.

Logan's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Mescalero Apache, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Logan won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Santa Rosa at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mescalero Apache, they and Dora will face off at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
