Baseball Game Preview: Vincent Memorial Scots vs. Ocean View Christian Patriots

The Vincent Memorial Scots will venture away from home to challenge the Ocean View Christian Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Vincent Memorial is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Vincent Memorial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past High Tech NC 5-3.

Jose Carlos Hurtado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Armando Mendivil was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Ocean View Christian came up short against Borrego Springs on Wednesday, falling 13-3. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Ocean View Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cruz Pamintuan, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another was Tyler Cauley, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Vincent Memorial's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Ocean View Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Everything went Vincent Memorial's way against Ocean View Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2017, as Vincent Memorial made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
