The Cardinal Huskies will head out to take on the Chalker Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Cardinal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Cardinal came out on top against St. John on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run second inning. The Huskies blew past the Heralds 18-7. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Heralds: they've now won three in a row.

Adelyn Grant

Adelyn Grant and Emily Pleva did most of the damage at the plate: Grant went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Pleva got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Grant a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ivy Kaminski, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Cardinal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Chalker posted their closest win since April 2nd on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Maplewood, sneaking past 3-1.
Tatum Hudak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Katelyn Cook, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Bailey Ann Bussey was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Chalker's record is now 10-5. As for Cardinal, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Cardinal couldn't quite finish off Chalker when the teams last played back in April and fell 3-1. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
