Basketball Recap: Forest Hill Comes Up Short

Forest Hill played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 76-39 loss at the hands of the Suncoast Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Chargers are ranked 103rd).

Forest Hill lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kavin Walker, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Tim Grice was another key player, putting up seven points along with six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Forest Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Walter Brinkley was a one-man wrecking crew for Suncoast as he went 7 for 10 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Konner Williams, who put up nine points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Forest Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Suncoast, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forest Hill will square off against Inlet Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Forest Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Suncoast, they will host Palm Beach Gardens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Suncoast knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Palm Beach Gardens likes a good challenge.
