Baseball Recap: West Takes a Loss

West had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-17 to make it 12. They lost 14-4 to the East Bakersfield Blades. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blades this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 back in March.

Alejo Villasenor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Jaren Colbert was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

As for East Bakersfield, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

On East Bakersfield's side, the team relied heavily on NOAH FERGUSON, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave FERGUSON a new career-high. Another player making a difference was KANE CALVILLO, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

While West had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
