Basketball Recap: Jordon Beard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Harrison Central over St. Martin

Harrison Central came up into this matchup off a tough 27-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the St. Martin Yellow Jackets by a score of 45-43 on Friday. The Red Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Harrison Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordon Beard, who posted 17 points. Beard continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Espinoza, who had seven points.

Jaxon Walker had a dynamite game for St. Martin, going 8 of 19 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Lleyton Wilson was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

Harrison Central has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for St. Martin, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Harrison Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Picayune on the 14th. As for St. Martin, they will host Long Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
