It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Charlottesville can now relate to. They lost to the Salem Spartans on the road by a 63-47 margin on Friday. The Black Knights' loss signaled the end of their 14-game winning streak.

Charlottesville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elaina Pierce, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaz Bryant, who went 5-for-8 en route to 11 points and four steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salem to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bailey Rider, who shot 70% from the field to rack up 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rider has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emme Custer, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Charlottesville's loss dropped their record down to 23-3. As for Salem, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season.

Charlottesville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-37 defeat against Heritage on the 4th. As for Salem, they have also already played their next contest, a 59-49 victory against Woodgrove on the 4th.
