Baseball Recap: Hoopeston Cornjerkers vs. Watseka Warriors
Hoopeston and Watseka squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Hoopeston had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cornjerkers have suffered since March 21st.
Dylan Judy put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Hoopeston has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. As for Watseka, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season.
