Basketball Recap: Raton Comes Up Short

Raton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Tucumcari Rattlers, falling 68-20. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-15.

Tucumcari's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was July Lafferty, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 18 points and six steals. Lafferty has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Lopez, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

Raton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-20. As for Tucumcari, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.

Raton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-26 loss against Santa Rosa on the 22nd. As for Tucumcari, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-30 victory against Clayton on the 22nd.
