Softball Game Preview: West Port Wolf Pack vs. Kathleen Red Devils

The West Port Wolf Pack will challenge the Kathleen Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Port is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

West Port's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Wildwood 15-0. The victory continues a trend for the Wolf Pack in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Alena Ishman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Reese Leslie was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Emily Brinkman was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Port was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Kathleen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 20-1 to Oasis Christian.

West Port's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Kathleen, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

West Port took their victory against Kathleen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-0 score. Will the Wolf Pack repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
